Samuel’s was recognized by the Rhinebeck Chamber of Commerce for being a part of the community for 25 years! We celebrated our silver anniversary with an event at The Amsterdam. John W. Barry of The Poughkeepsie Journal stopped by Samuel’s Sweet Shop ahead of our 25th anniversary. He visited with manager and co-owner John Traver as well as co-owners Paul, Julie and Andy. To quote the profile:
With the old-fashioned charm of a general store and the glamour of Hollywood owners, Samuel’s Sweet Shop has emerged as a destination for devotees of candy and caffeine alike, drawing fans from near and far.
Samuel’s nearly closed its doors when original owner Ira Gutner died in 2014. But, nearly five years after it was saved by a cadre of celebrities who were avid customers, the shop is preparing to celebrate its 25th anniversary on April 30.
